We love having friends and family over for parties, and with all of our kids and our friends' kids, it only takes a couple of families to have an instant party!  Recently we invited a couple of families over for a basketball party... hmmm, you may just know of some exciting college basketball games going on right now.  And if you do, here are some easy, fun ways to host your own Basketball Party!

Parties can be so simple and inexpensive by just sticking to appetizers if you host a mid-afternoon party.  We actually did have a whole meal and dessert too, but this appetizer table was a hit thanks to new Cheez-It Grooves!  I made a CHEEZ-BALL appetizer to look like a basketball (recipe below) and served it with Cheez-It Grooves as well.  They're the perfect new cracker that crisps like a chip.

For drinks we served orange sports drinks that matched the party color scheme of orange, white, and black perfectly thanks to Lauren McKinsey's Basketball Party printables.   And all of the food items at the party had fun basketball themed names.  I cut a black & white paper straw into thirds, then hot glued the food labels onto the mini straws and just placed them inside inexpensive party favor trophies.  Super fun way to include trophies and food labels into a party, right?

We also served Cheez-It Snack Mix because that's always a party hit.  Served in fun orange and white party boxes with a Slam Dunk printable attached with a mini clothespin, it was a great way for every guest to have their own container of Cheez-It Snack Mix to themselves!

The basketball theme was continued throughout the party with orange, black and white decorations, and even basketball candies!

We had a lot of adorable young party guests, and they all had a blast!

We kept them entertained by playing basketball {of course} with our brand new basketball hoop that my husband set up outside the morning of the party!

And of course the Dads had to get in on some hoop action too...

We even found these little basketballs for our guests to take home- the plush one was for our baby guest!

Want to host your own Basketball Party?  Here's how to make your own CHEEZ-Ball appetizer.

CHEEZ-Basketball

2 packages of cream cheese, softened
1 package of ranch dip mix
2 boxes of Cheez-It Grooves, 1 box crushed, 1 box NOT crushed
small can of sliced black olives

Using a stand mixer, whip the cream cheese with the ranch packet until thoroughly combined.  While mixing, crush the Cheez-It Grooves in their original plastic bag.

Pour about 1/4 cup of crushed Cheez-It Grooves onto a medium sized plate and spread them out.  Gently transfer the cream cheese mixture on top of the crushed crackers then top with more crushed crackers, pressing them onto the Cheez-ball until it is completely covered.  Brush off the excess crushed crackers and carefully transfer onto serving platter.  Drain a small can of sliced black olives.  Line a small plate with a paper towel, then pour the olives onto the paper towel to drain.  Using similar sized olive slices, make a basketball design on your Cheez-ball.  Refrigerate until serving, at least 30 minutes.  Serve with the second box of Cheez-It Grooves.

Not only are Cheez-It Grooves the perfect Basketball Party food, there's a Most Valuable Cheese Contest that is taking place from Feb – April 2015. Users can vote on their favorite flavors/varieties from six popular Cheez-It flavors and play games for a chance to win $10,000.  And right now, Cheez-It's are on sale at Target for 3/$8!  AND if you use Target's Cartwheel App {Hello, my favorite thing ever!} you can save an additional 35% off of your Cheez-It's purchase!  As if I ever need an excuse to shop at Target!   You can find a huge selection of Cheez-It varieties in the cracker aisle at Target.

What's your favorite college basketball team?  Are yours still in your bracket?  Sad day for me today... my favorite San Diego team is out.  But that's okay, I'm off to drown my sorrows in a bowl of Cheez-Its! :)

What a fun party! I'm totally coming to your house to watch the next round of games...and I might play some hoops in the driveway at halftime! But will you promise to have this Cheez-Ball on hand? It looks delicious! #client
