Happy 2015! I've enjoyed such a nice little blogging break for the past two weeks while our boys were on Winter Break from school. Our break was full of fun, touristy things in our own town (super fun to do since we live in sunny San Diego!) I've shared a few of those pictures on Instagram already. And we had a great little New Year's Eve celebration at home, just us and the boys. Even though it was "just us" I still love to set up a fun little New Year's Eve table for us.
Like I talked about it my post about easy New Year's Eve food and decorating ideas, I love to use some of my gold Christmas decorations (like my gold votive candleholders above) in my New Year's Eve display. I also love buying a big, cheap, cheesy party hat to use as a centerpiece.
For a festive, easy dessert I just made a batch of brownies in a round tart pan and drew on a clock face with some icing I made and put into a piping bag. Super easy and festive, right?
And that bag with the clock- I've been doing those bags for a few years now. I fill the bags with something fun for the boys- glowsticks, party horns, party blowers, sparklers, etc. and they get to open a bag every hour leading up to midnight. Super fun for the kids!
It was such a fun, relaxing night at home with my favorite people in the world. The coming of a new year really does have a magical way of renewing my hopes and helping me feel like I'm starting fresh. So along those lines, I have chosen a word to focus on for the year for about five years now, instead of a lofty list of resolutions. In 2013 my word was JOY. And last year in 2014 my word was INTENTIONAL. It really does help me to focus on a one word goal because I find that I try to work that word into all areas of my life. For 2015, my word is FOCUS.
I LOVE being a Stay at Home Mom/Blogger, and I LOVE being Room Mom and Team Mom, and I really want to get back to where I was on my health/fitness goals, and I have big plans for growth with my blog... and throughout it all this year I want to work on staying focused and not get distracted by other things- someone's blog is growing quicker than mine, someone is reaching their fitness goals better than I am, etc. It is so easy to get distracted and focus too much on one area of my life (or even on someone else's life!) while letting other important things slip away, so this year I will choose to FOCUS on what is truly important in my life and take intentional steps to get to where I want to be.
What about you? Do you have One Little Word for 2015? I'd love to have you share your word with me in the comments! xoxo
