QUEEN BEE MARKET: A HANDMADE MARKET WONDERLAND!

From a night in Wonderlandia with The Hostess with the Mostess to a morning at Queen Bee Market, it was a weekend of fun where blog land came to life {and I loved every second of it}.

From the moment I stepped in Queen Bee Market, my eyes couldn’t decide where to look first.  It was full of the most gorgeous handmade items!  Part of the beauty of this market is the way the items are displayed… this isn’t a “set your goods out on a table” kind of event.  It’s absolute eye candy in products and display.

Here’s my walk through the market from a “display” point of view {which of course highlights all of the gorgeous items from these creative vendors too}.

See the twine wrapped on that blue frame?  I love that idea so much that I’m going to do that with pictures of Luke’s at his 1st Birthday Party in October.  And isn’t that the cutest checkout ever?  {ignore the plastic cup}  Those Barn Owl Primitive signs are gorgeous.

Does Baker’s Twine make your heart go pitter-patter too?  I just can’t get enough of it, especially when it’s displayed so gorgeously by Inspire Lovely.  {Fabulous shop name too, because yes, you really do inspire me to want to make lovely things with that delicious twine!}

Seriously, has felt ever looked this good?  Adorable felt banners strung on jute {love!} and that Pillow Factory… wow, amazing quality linen pillows with perfectly stitched felt.

I adore vintage dressers.  Seeing these gorgeous handmade goods flowing out of funky vintage dressers makes my heart happy {and I have a special place in my heart for green vintage dressers because I have one in my home from my grandma… you’ll see it in a lot of pictures at Luke’s 1st Birthday party in a couple months}.

Is it weird that my husband didn’t even blink when I told him tonight that I wanted to hang a really old bird cage in my craft corner to hold spools of twine?  Ohhh, I love a rusty old bird cage… and so did some of the Queen Bee vendors.  And there’s some burlap too {swoon!}  Surprisingly, there wasn’t a whole lot of burlap though.

Dessert stands aren’t just for desserts!  There were so many beautiful stands full of handmade accessories, felt flowers, zippered pouches, and paper goodies.

Cute little trees made from real branches displayed paper crafts, the most adorable stitched birdies and owls, and tons of creative flower crafts.

There were journals, clothing, frames, stationary, calendars, and more all with fun quotes that I love.

Wood shutters were repurposed as jewelry holders.  There were soooo many gorgeous earrings, and I’m kicking myself that I put back a pair that I’m still thinking about {which clearly means they were meant to be on my ears!}

Vintages suitcases and metal trunks held hand-sewn fabric pennant banners, magnetic monthly calendars, and beautiful headbands.

Old wood crates were filled with all kinds of hand-sewn zippered bags and pouches, jewelry laying on cinnamon sticks {the name of that vendor’s shop, such a cute idea!}

I loved all of these adorable little pouches adorned with ruffles and flowers.  I especially loved the ones on the right because they have that little loop to carry it on your wrist.  As a Momma, we need about six more hands, right?  So it’s always nice when to be able to carry something without actually having to hold it.

Dress forms are such a pretty way of displaying fabric belts, necklaces, and beautiful handmade flowers.

These are a few of my favorite displays…

handmade rings on a baking rack, and fabric flowers on an aqua frame with chicken wire.

And my most favorite display of all…

this adorable red gumball machine filled with bright, beautiful baker’s twine {love, love this!}

And my favorite shop display…

Funky Vintage Lovely has the coolest vintage doors as a backdrop for her shop.  We met this vendor and she is just as adorable and sweet as her cute booth.

Chairs, both big and tiny, were another creative way to display items.

And speaking of chairs…

That adorable little green rocker on the right was my only purchase at Queen Bee.  I loved it so, so much that I had to have it.  It’s going to be perfect for Luke’s 1st Birthday Party and it looks perfect in the boys activity room.  Plus, I found a favorite new little local shop {Smitten in La Mesa, CA}.  And the headband and corduroy bag were a few of my favorite items at the market {that I didn’t come home with, but now I wish I would have}.

A super exciting moment for me…

I looked up and saw that one of my most favorite blog “celebrities” was shopping right next to me {right after I picked up my little green rocker… what a great few minutes that was!} and I was thrilled to meet Jen, the genius behind tatertots & jello.  I didn’t get a picture taken with her, but as she was walking around, I couldn’t resist snapping a quick photo of her adorable bag {burlap and pennant banners… I love this!}  She was super friendly and adorable.

Remember I said I especially love green vintage dressers…

there’s a glimpse of mine in my own home.  And that adorable yellow framed burlap beauty was a gift from my sweet friend Jen {Twiddler House}. It’s my favorite quote and she made it as a thank you for inviting her down to San Diego for Wonderlandia and Queen Bee Market.  I’m super thankful that she came to spend a fun weekend with me in San Diego, where blog land and reality blended together so perfectly.

Queen Bee Market was fabulous.  It would be so fun to make enough goodies to be a vendor there… someday. I can’t wait for the next one!
