Back to School Traditions

We're still in summer mode here until after Labor Day, and we're loving it.  I saw this on the counter yesterday, and I promise I had nothing to do with it... so funny!

But with two of our three boys starting at new schools soon, my wheels are spinning with ideas of how to make their transition smooth and memorable.

Last year before Kindergarten started, we hosted this small party with some of our little friends.

It was a simple party with a few friends.  The kids ate school lunches {pb & j sandwiches, chips, fruit, and bottled water} in paper lunch bags.  I made the banner on my Cricut and the cute printables were from Love The Day.  Little labels and table name tents were from the Dollar Spot at Target.

For Activity Time, they each decorated their own cupcakes.

We had Story Time, followed by Recess of course.  {Silly boys!}

For favors, they brought home caramel apples. {Sorry for the blurry picture... these were taken with a weird camera.}

I think each year one of my boys is starting Kindergarten, we'll have a little party like that.

This year, since one is going into 1st Grade and one is starting Pre-K, we'll have a special Back to School Dinner instead.  Have you seen NieNie's Back to School dinners?  Complete with special crowns for the kids and a fancy dinner, I love this idea {and NieNie herself!}

Another blogger I love to follow {it's private though... sorry, because she is amazing!} has a Back to School dinner AT the kids school.  They bring their dinner to the school, eat at the lunch tables, then walk around and do a little tour of the school.  So cute!  Since our boys' school is right outside our back gate, we take little self-guided tours, mostly of the playgrounds, ALL the time!

I always take a million pictures of my boys on the 1st Day of School.  This year, I'll be taking them with these adorable printables {made by Sugar Tot Designs} on I Heart Naptime.   Head over to I Heart Naptime and download them for yourself :)

And I'm going to do a little Q & A with them too and add it to their 1st Day of School picture so we can remember all of their favorite things from each year.

And have you read The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn?  It is THE best book for little ones starting school.  We'll be reading this the night before school starts...

and these Kissing Hand cookies will be in the boys' lunch!

{so sorry because I pinned this incorrectly, so it doesn't link to whoever's blog it is :(  If you know, please let me know so I can credit is correctly.}

And my Back to School board on Pinterest is full of other fun Back to School ideas too.  There are so many cute ideas out there!
My Pinterest Board: Back to School

I have to admit that although I'm soooooo sad that my boys will be going to school soon {because I dread the schedule, the days getting shorter, and I will miss them like crazy!}  I am excited that I'll be able to run errands with just one little monkey.  Seriously, has there ever been a cuter shopping partner?!  I think not :)

What are your Back to School Traditions?

I'm linking up to some of my favorite link parties!

W.O.W.!! You go all out for back to school! That drink with the umbrella is too funny! It's walking into a room and seeing little things like that, that just make my whole day! (well, that and seeing your gorgeous couch pillows too! Swoon!). We don't do a whole lot actually for back to school! My MIL takes the kids out for a day for shopping and dinner. I wake up early (a big deal for me) and make a big breakfast on the first day and then I've always made signs for them to hold announcing the date, grade and their teacher for my pictures!
