Sweet Dinner Rolls

I was dying to try this recipe for months and I'm so glad I did! I made these Sweet Dinner Rolls for our St. Patrick's Day dinner and they were easy and delicious.

Here's the recipe:
1/2 cup warm water
1/2 cup warm milk
1 egg
1/3 cup butter, softened
1/3 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon salt
3 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast or 2.5 teaspoons if using a jar of yeast.
1/4 cup butter, softened

Warm the water and milk in the microwave for about a minute. Pour it into the bowl of you KitchenAid, then stir in the sugar until dissolved. Then stir in the yeast. Wait about 10 minutes (it should get kind of foamy). Then mix in the salt, butter, and egg. Add in the flour one-half cup at a time. Let it rise for about 45 minutes in the bowl. Punch it down, divide into 16 balls and let it rise for about an hour more. Bake for about 10 minutes at 350 degrees (or was it 400?) Decide based on your oven :)

They were awesome and perfect for breakfast the next morning with butter and jam.

Spring has sprung!

We celebrated the First Day of Spring with Kid Olympics at the park with our MOMS Club friends. The boys had so much fun playing at the park, running through the obstacle course, playing with a parachute, doing a potato sack race, an egg and spoon race, playing with bubbles and getting artsy with sidewalk chalk. At the end, every kid received a gold metal and every mom took home some flower seeds. It was the perfect way to kick off spring!

Luck of the Irish!

Our boys aren't really Irish, although you'd never know that from looking at them with their gorgeous "honey" colored hair and fair skin. Despite the lack of Irish heritage, why not go all out for St. Patty's Day?! Oh yes, we had shamrock pancakes for breakfast, corned beef and red potatoes for dinner, and of course, green juice in the sippy cups all day long :)

Here's Jake going for a shamrock cookie for breakfast...

Jake's shirt says "Kiss Me, I'm Cute." He got a million kisses that day... which is pretty much the same as every day. He's a cuddle bug.

How much longer do you think they will let me buy them shirts for holidays? Hopefully at least one more year {since I already have bought them matching holiday shirts for Christmas and Valentine's Day next year!}

Lake Arrowhead Getaway for a Party of Two

Ben and I went on a little getaway to Lake Arrowhead last week. The boys stayed with my parents and had a blast rolling in the dirt at the desert house (not sure if they really did roll in the dirt or not, but the dirty clothes they brought home sure looked like it!) Ben and I took naps two days in a row, slept in, went shopping {I bought 10 wooden crates for 97 cents each and then had no room for all of our stuff in the trunk... totally worth it though}, out to eat, ordered room service, saw a movie, went on a beautiful mountain drive... it was awesome. But on the day we were leaving I couldn't wait to cuddle with our little guys again.

As we drove back down the mountain, we were above the clouds. It was gorgeous.

But while we were there I kept saying how much I thought the boys would love it there... so next time we go it will probably be a getaway for a Party of Four :)

Best seat in the house

We had just come home from another fun trip to Costco (LOVE that place!) I put on Cars and the boys pulled up a seat together.

Trike-A-Thon '09!

Sam had so much fun riding in the Trike-A-Thon for the 2nd year. We really appreciate all of his sponsors... checks are still coming! This is my favorite day of the whole year at preschool. Sam had the same sign on the back of his bike that he had on his smaller bike last year. It was so funny though... no one said anything about the sign last year. This year it was amazing- people commented, asked about Simeon, asked if they could take pictures of the sign, and one mom even offered to donate her daughter's pledges to honor Simeon. It was a such a heartwarming morning.
