Raspberries everywhere!!

This afternoon we headed up to Oak Glen to pick raspberries. It was so much fun!! We found this little place that was full of raspberries and not full of people... horray! What a fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon. My next post will surely be a picture and review of what I decide to make with all these delicious raspberries!

The solution I've been searching for... I think.

For months now I've been trying to think of a way to rearrange things in our house to create a toy room for the boys. I feel like everyday I trip over toys and I'm constantly trying to organize the toys and find a way that adults and little boys can co-habitate happily in our home. We finally decided that we'd move the treadmill out of the loft and move the toys into the loft. Not the best solution for a number of reasons, but it was the only thing we came up with. On the same day, we were also moving Samuel's toddler bed out of his room and moving him up to a twin bed that we had stored downstairs in the closet. I was busy making labels for the toy tubs while Ben was moving mattresses up and down the stairs and the boys... well, they were around here somewhere too :)

:::crickets chirping:::

I know, this is thriling, right?! Anywho, I went into Sam's room without a bed in it to start labeling the toy tubs and thought, "This is such a nice big room..." The wheels started turning and I thought, "It's a PERFECT toy room!!" I ran downstairs to tell Ben how BRILLIANT my idea was. We asked Sam if he wanted to sleep in Whale's room with him (yes, we call him Whale too) and he said, "Oh, sure!" So, two nights in a row and they're doing great in the same room and we now have a toy room/library for the boys! While Ben was doing the mattress exchange in and out of the downstairs closet, he pulled out boxes and boxes of books from my teaching days. We made a cozy little corner of Sam's former room into a library, complete with beanbags, little chairs, a big chair for me to read to the boys, and hundreds- literally hundreds- of books. We are so excited- it felt like Christmas here yesterday! And the best part is that it was all FREE- we just moved around stuff we already had. So, bring the kiddos on over and let's play... or read. We're entertaining our first little guests tomorrow- Seth, Eldon, Ethan, and Arriana- and we can't wait to see how they like it.

Bummer :(

After spending way too much time making the ice cream cone slideshow, it shows photo 1, then 2, then 1, then 2... then after a minute or two it finally shows all of the pics of messy Jake. Just thought I'd explain because I am crazy like that. Oh and since I'm very visual and don't like posts without pictures (I know, sooo 2nd grade... probably why I taught 2nd grade) here's a picture of a squash I grew in the garden. And Ben said I don't have a green thumb... HA! The only problem is I forgot what kind of squash I planted...oops! We've got it narrowed down to crocked neck squash or yellow zuchinni, but all I know is that it's a great side dish- sauteed in butter or olive oil with a dash of garlic salt. Yum, although not quite up there with the chocolate ice cream :)

Jake's in love...

with his 1st chocolate ice cream cone!! Sure he's had a bite or two from ours, but this is the first cone made just for Jake, ALL for Jake and he loved every single sticky, dripping bite of it!

SSSSTRIKE!!!

Sam went bowling for the first time today at our friend Jacob's birthday party. He LOVED it!! Just wearing those stinky bowling shoes was a thrill for him...

He can't wait to go bowling again!

Happy Birthday Mandy!!

Mandy turned 26 on Wednesday. She is a great sister-in-law and an amazing aunt... and we're sooooooo excited that she and my brother are expecting a baby in January!! Horray for a nearby cousin for the boys!! Here's a picture of the super sweet cheesecake pops I made for her birthday... mmm! And by "super sweet" I'm not saying they were really cool or anything- the cheesecake part itself was really sweet and next time I'll use a denser, less sugary cheesecake recipe :)

Fun in the Sun!!

We can't get enough of San Diego!! This past weekend we took the boys to La Jolla Shores. It was a PERFECT day- 75 degrees, the water was warm, and the boys had a blast! We couldn't keep Jake out of the waves and he loved eating the sand too...ewww! I'm pretty sure I never thought eating sand tasted good- maybe it's a boy thing! Then off to Nani and Papa's house to play in the pool. It was so refreshing. We also did a quick Fashion Valley run so I could visit my FAVORITE store, Williams-Sonoma, then to Baskin-Robbins for ice cream cones. Horray for San Diego Summer Fun!
